Day 13

"I learned the value of hard work by working hard."

Margaret Mead

Last night was Halloween in Nyack. The town was on fire with creativity!  The costumes and floats were second to none.

I had the honor of performing on the Nyack Cross Fit float and we won 2nd Place! Go figure.... must have been all the strobe lights and disco balls I brought with me.

It was a really special night in town and my favorite night of the year to celebrate with the kids.  My son was on the float with me as well, rocking to the beat amongst thousands of people on Main Street.  What a thrill it was.

I decided to treat myself before the parade and buy a new Toca djembe drum. I played it this morning and I love the tight, crisp, high pitch sounds it produces.

So as I played this morning and heard the sounds of the Halloween party being cleaned up, I decided to dedicate the hard work quote above to all the public workers who cleaned up the square this morning.   I expected to see a waste land of garbage but they did such an amazing clean up job, I have to stop and pause and give them props.   You can hear them in the background with the leaf blowers as I play.  They look at me kinda funny,  but I still honor them and their great work.

Listen to that beautiful djembe drum!

Thanks to Frank at the Long Island Drum Center.  He gave me a great deal on it!
